Games as Meditation

I talked a bit about how games can be in a sense “meditative”.  I mentioned particular examples that use repetitive button pressing or timed actions to create a zoning out effect similar to that experienced by deep breathing meditation.  I think many people may experience this in other games as well…the “flow state” we talked about earlier in the semester is something that comes to mind here.  However, I came across an article that talks about a game that actually tries to heal the mind.  This is a game by a writer named Deepak Chopra called Leela.  This game actually focuses on the different chakra in the body and uses simple body movements to heal them.  This reminded me a bit of the repetitive motions in Pokemon Stadium‘s minigames, except actually using the body.  There is a trailer for the game here
