research question 1

Research topic;
I am interested in researching current healthcare reform policy and its implementation in the United States because I want to specifically find out what are the strengths and weaknesses of American healthcare; this is important to me because, as a future physician, I will be facing these issues every day and would greatly benefit from a deeper understanding of the pros and cons of the system under which I will be practicing medicine.

Questions to consider;
1. Is the topic of current American healthcare reform policy too broad to be effectively discussed in one paper?

2. To what degree can current changes be studied, given their recent implementation?

3. Is it possible to remain impartial in arguing a case that has been traditionally rooted in political partisanship?

  1. Researching healthcare reform policy in the US will help to allow for a better understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of US healthcare. It will help provide a deeper understanding for physicians who will be practicing under the US healthcare policies.

    Are you going to pick a certain type of a doctor that this affects? What age group does the healthcare policies affect? What affect does this have on preexhisting insurance?

    1) An interview of an already practicing doctor who’s been affected by healthcare policies
    2) A copy of the new healthcare reform
    3) Information from different insurance companies/different policies

  2. The language of the rephrasing is almost exactly the same as that of the original question, so the point remains largely unchanged.

    The first suggestion for narrowing focus may seem logical to someone not familiar with medicine, but to isolate one specialty would not make much sense on the grand scheme of things since patients usually receive treatment through a network of primary care physicians and specialists. Rather, the effect on the interaction between medical specialists under new policy reform would be a better approach.

    As far as age group is concerned, it seems appropriate for all age groups to be studied since everyone needs medical treatment at some point.

    The effect on pre-existing insurance will obviously be a large component of the piece, as one cannot discuss something new without reference to its previous state and the larger picture.

  3. They (Congress) say that current healthcare reform policy and its implementation in the United States is the best approach to solving the country’s healthcare problems; I say that there are just as many new problems with reform policy as there are solutions to old ones.
