History of “Combos” in videogaming

Here is a Wikipedia entry on the history of combos.

The article mentions how the combo was left in as a “design defect” or glitch in Street Fighter II. Here is a video of the glitch mentioned (go to 1:22).

    I’m not quite sure this constitute the origin of the combo as Street Fighter II itself has many legitimate combos, such as the famous down, down-forward, forward, punch of the Hadouken. However, my comment only pertains to “combos” meaning “a series of button presses” and not “a series of attacks.” I believe in class we were discussing the former, but this is an interesting angle on the topic as well.
