Journal #4

I am interested in researching cell phones because I want to find out their effect on us and on those around us. This is important and interesting to me because we constantly use cell phones, and they are rapidly changing the way we communicate.

1)      Which age groups uses cell phones the most?

2)      What are cell phones used for the most? (i.e. texting, Facebook, sports updates, etc.)?

3)      What are the most popular types of phones?

  1. John is investigating the results of increased cell phone use on the population at large. Society is stuck in the desire to technologically advance, specifically in mobile devices, which is changing the way we associate with others.

    1. What demographic (age, nationality, etc.) are you focusing on?

    2. Are you researching both the positive and negative effects of cell phone usage?

    3. Is the focus on the actual advancement of technology or is on the psychological impact of cell phones on human beings?

    Evidence:

    1. Depending on which way you take with this, in a scientific vein it would be beneficial to research through scientific journals what the actual devices perform. Psychologically, scholarly journals about the attachment to technical devices may steer you well.

    2. Phone Advertisements and the features their products have.

    3. Documentaries about technological dependence. (Some are on YouTube, so that may be a valuable source when searching for that.)

  2. Great feedback, I didn’t even think of things like Phone Advertisement and Documentaries. I think I’m going to go more into the area of the psychological impact of cell phones on society, not necessarily how technology is advancing (thanks though for the input, I needed to be clearer).

I am interested in research cell phones because I want to find out their pyschological and social impact on humans and society.

  3. They say (society) that cell phones are the cool, fast, and convenient way to communicate. I say that cell phones, though cool, have a negative effect on our interactions with others, mainly in regards to our face-to-face communication and people skills.
