I would also agree that Shelley is commenting on humanity here that we need to be more loving instead of being consumed by hatred. Frankenstein and his creation were both seeking companionship. Instead of seeking that friendship with each other, they both become obsessed with revenege and neither one ends up happy. If Frankenstein had accepted his creation and show him love and care, he would not have been so destructive.
