This video does the opposite of the video we watched in class. They put people into a side scrolling game via technology, and showed them from the side. It does not work nearly as well as it does in games.
They mentioned doing a similar experiment with driving. I believe mythbusters did a similar driving test. If I remember correctly, the surmised that the reason people drive so badly in games (like GTA) is because of the strange camera angle which puts the player outside and behind the vehicle. As one would never operate a real car in such a manner, I would assume it is even harder to control a real car this way.
