We3

I found it hard to choose any one page to have more significance than the others, but for my blog post I will go with page 66 of the Deluxe Edition of We3. It’s the page where the train has … Continue reading Continue reading

Lost and Found

This particular image in WE3 really bothered me. The entire series of “Lost” posters made the characters real “pets” it would have been easy to cast all of the animals as the Mastiff was- cold blooded alpha animals with no … Continue reading Continue reading

stink boss

We3 gives me weird, battle royaley vibes. Lost animals given biomechanic weapons and forced to fight their own kind.  Sure, its been done before, but, for some reason, audiences are always more sympathetic to animals.  The animals are made into monstrous robots, with similar qualities to Frankenstien’s monster.  Limited speech, creepy bodies and a rather …

Wrong Place, Wrong Time

Throughout “WE3”, these bio-engineered animals are painted as dangerous things that must be destroyed immediately. Difficulties in Neuromancer.

My initial difficulty upon beginning Neuromancer was the author’s style of writing. I realize he is making you think about the world you’re being tossed into, but personally that is one of my biggest peeves when reading. I feel like … Continue reading Continue reading

Getting Lost in Neuromancer

I felt myself get completely lost in the pages of Neuromancer. I am not well with technology or terms related with technology and I found myself having to go back a lot to re-read passages. I agree with Ashley Parker on the … Continue reading Continue reading

Cyberspace Cowboy

One of the ideas we continue to bring up in class with these science fiction novels is what science fiction does that other genres fail to do.  We looked for lines that were being crossed, like the racial boundaries in … Continue reading Continue reading

In response to the Ashleys

Ashley Attiliis’s post hits on a key point that we brought up in class Tuesday – what can science fiction do that other genres can’t? Ashley mentions that her perceptions of science fiction since taking this class have expanded to include “writing about what is unknown and different.” In response, Ashley Parker points out that, […] Continue reading

Not everything’s black and white

My post today is commenting from Ashley’s post.  I definitely agree that science fiction is a fitting genre for “The Comet.”  Like Ashley said, this genre enabled DuBois to present how society has constructed racial issues but through a different … Continue reading Continue reading
