Final Project Guidelines

The final project is comprised of two parts: (1) the expansion of a single blog post and (2) a 5-7 page original paper.

Part I

  • Pick one of your blog posts (from either a First Reader or Respondent post)
  • Expand it to a 3-page essay
  • You can pick a post that in hindsight you are unhappy with and revise it upwards. Or you can pick a post that you think is fantastic but still contains ideas that can be fleshed out. Or simply pick a post you enjoyed writing and can see value in pushing it further in light of our latest readings and class discussions.

Part II

  • Send a proposal via email by November 24, in which you address the following points: what work you’ll be analyzing; what question motivates your analysis; and what specific artistic and narrative elements you might consider
  • The possibilities are endless for your project. What your work boils down to is this: analyze one graphic narrative, exploring how the unique visual grammar of the medium contributes to the underlying themes of the work.
  • The paper should 5-7 pages

Parts I and II are both due Tuesday, December 15
